We are proposing a purpose built secure children’s home comprising: 

• accommodation for up to 24 of children in a secure environment; 

• community reintegration accommodation for up to 4 children who no longer need to live within a secure environment but who need a period of extra care and support to help them achieve a positive transition back to living in the community; 

• educational facilities; 

• health and wellbeing facilities; 

• indoor and outdoor physical education and recreation areas and 

• operational and administrative spaces for staff and visitors. 

We are proposing the development will be predominantly one storey with a two storey element containing administration spaces while clearly defining the main entrance. It will be designed to be respectful of surrounding buildings and the wider local context. 

ACCESS AND PARKING:

We are proposing the development will be accessed via a re-opened vehicular access point. 

We are proposing 40 car parking spaces and secure cycle storage spaces for staff and visitors. 

A Transport Assessment and Travel Plan is being prepared to support the planning application; the assessment will explore the impact of the development on the highway. 

If there are any potential mitigation measures required as part of the proposals, we will work with the local authority to develop the mitigation proposals 

LANDSCAPING: 

The proposed landscaping scheme is still in development; however, within the development area we intend to provide new planting, amenity grass and trees. 

Also, we intend to provide landscaping that will add to the local character, protect biodiversity, help mitigate the impact of climate change and reduce water runoff, whilst also maintaining the openness of the Metropolitan Open Land.
